Flyer for class.

The repeated "Dustloop.com Match Finder" text at the bottom would be where I would cut the paper for little tabs for people to take. Was very simple to do but should be sufficient for the assignment.

Class introduction!

Well, as you can see, this blog was originally devoted to video games, however I'm now hijacking it for college purposes. My name is Devin Stahl (and my internet handle is Kentiah or Koraxor, hence the name of the blog), based on the blog you'd be correct in assuming that I'm an avid gamer, though this blog hasn't been updated in a while. I was born in Griffin and have lived here all my life unfortunately, though I am grateful for the friends I have made while I'm here.  There's not a whole lot to say really, I'm majoring in Computer Networking, as I've dealt with computers most of my life but haven't thought much about making a job of it, so now I am, I often wind up troubleshooting internet related problems for family members in the house, though at the end of the day it's really just entry tier stuff that anyone can do, and I'm interested in learning more. I'd really like to learn more on the hardware side of things as well as I haven't had a chance to build my own computer. Well, there's not much mrre to say unless anyone has some specific questions!

Vindictus!

The Vindictus early open beta starts today! I can't wait for it, I've unfortunately decided to cancel my FF14 pre-order, too many sketchy things in the game atm, I'd rather wait for a couple of months and let it pan out some.

Really looking forward to Vindictus though, servers need to go up asap!

Registered for classes! Not much in the vidya news though.

Registered for classes today, most of my classes are later in the day, but ah well.

Dead Rising 2 is looking pretty sick though, can't wait to play it, I never played the first one, but the second one seems awesome.

Starts tomorrow!

Launch of F2P starts tomorrow, in other news not alot has been happening. Birth by Sleep came out yesterday, I've been practicing at BlazBlue still. I played Ace Combat: Joint Assault last night, it's alright, not a bad game but it's really retarded how slow you turn.

Other than that, not alot else, I wound up just saying screw Paypal, and it turns out Amazon has a similar system for getting payments and stuff, so that worked out well.

Lord of the Rings Online goes F2P!

Well, it's not news, but it starts on the 8th for current subscribers/people who already bought the game. It's actually a pretty solid MMO, though the Tolkien fanboys can get annoying at times, it's still fun overall, and I enjoy watching the occasional RP session of some people, not to mention the music system is SO ballin.

Ugh, so many MMOs to play though, and with college I'm not gonna have any spare time.

Squeenix on why they think the west only like macho protagonists.

The importance of “believability” is strongly emphasised in the North American market.
Why are American characters always older guys? This can be explained with reference to “believability.”
For a protagonist who triumphs against adversity to be believable in the eyes of players, they want him to be tough and highly experienced.
This isn’t limited to characters – in “Fallout 3″ you see the example of Nuka Cola, which gives health when drunk but also poisons the body with radiation. At first this doesn’t seem realistic at all, but when you consider the setting is post-apocalyptic it becomes “believable.”

We can probably expect more stuff like the differing main characters as in Neir to happen. Thoughts on this? As long as it doesn't invade my Final Fantasies I guess I don't mind, but when playing a Japanese game I expect Japanese style characters, I like the style. When playing western RPGs I know what to expect with those as well, and they're still good.
Why screw it up Squeenix, why?

Not much going on today.

But September is a wonderful, wonderful month for gaming! Final Fantasy XIV, Halo: Reach, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Phantasy Star Portable 2, and I thought God Eater was coming out in English this month as well, but apparently it's not til October of next year, what the hell, guess it was pushed back or I failed at reading.

Anyway, anything new for you guys? Can't say much changed from yesterday, still raging at Paypal and my college, at least there's a new episode of Psych for me to watch.

Picture not related, Makoto is just cool.

Ugh, college, Paypal, and Xbox Live.

So I just got accepted to college and they decide to tell me now that It's going to take up to 20 business days to verify my tax information for FAFSA and that the deadline is September 21st for payments, so I've gotta come up with a grand outta nowhere. Now, last night my Grandma was going to send me a payment so I can get some stuff I needed, I get on Paypal and HURR DURR ACCOUNT LIMITED PLEASE REVERIFY EVERYTHING FOR NO REASON, THIS IS ONLY GONNA TAKE LIKE HALF A MONTH TO DO.

And then I found out yesterday microsoft is fucking increasing the cost of X-Box Live, which is just stupid considering I'm not going to be using one SINGLE feature they increased the cost for, idiots. Nothing I can do though, have to pay it anyway. They need to adopt Sonys free internet, shit is stupid, and all my friends play on 360 so of course I rarely use my PS3.

But besides that, only about half a month left til FFXIV, I pre-ordered the collector's edition, can't wait to get it on the 22nd, though I won't be able to play it long with college starting soon afterward. At least, not play it hardcore for long.

Awfully tired this morning, but anyway, BlazBlue anyone?

Good ol' BlazBlue, probably the first fighting game I've actually enjoyed, granted I'm not counting the Smash Brothers games. Every character is pretty unique, none play the same, and personally I enjoy the anime style graphics. Speaking of, there's an anime convention (Anime Weekend Atlanta) in the middle of September that I'm going to that's having a BlazBlue tourney the first night, plan to enter it and see how well I do. I'll probably get around to posting some match videos eventually, however I can't really say I'm all that good, but I'm learning.

Not much today in the way of news.

Playing some Global Agenda, my friend talked me into getting it, it's not too terrible, I cleaned up my stick a bit, will post a picture later when I'm not in a match. Anything interesting with you guys?

Edit: Cleaned it up a little, here's the picture.

Setting the record straight on Final Fantasy XIV fatigue.

A lot of people have been complaining about FF14's fatigue system, while it is somewhat annoying to have leveling limited, I want to set the record straight on how this works, it's not just 8 hours or anything like that.

You have fatigue for your physical level, and your class (skill), there are 8 tiers of 100% xp, after that, you have 7 more tiers of XP that will go down every tier, for your physical level, these tiers will not reset with time, and have a week long cooldown.

However, class fatigue will go down as you play other classes, or do other things, so yes, your physical level will be limited weekly, however you can continue to level your classes, and the way this game is designed, you WANT to level multiple classes, just like FF11, you'll be gimping yourself if you limit your abilities to just one class, you're able to use a lot of other classes skills as another class, and you will want to have a wide array of abilities at your disposal to be more efficient at your job.

My first blog!

Well, just started this blog, and with this first post I wanna throw up some pictures of my recent fight stick mod. I recently learned to solder just so I could do this, and I had a fun time doing it as well!

Well, I'll post more stuff later!
